NATURE IS THE SOURCE OF MEDICINE

This project was a landmark initiative taken by Droguerie Phenicia towards the Natural heritage in Lebanon. It represented a noble collaboration between the private and the public sector in synchrony for one aim, preserve our natural heritage. The project included planting one thousand nine hundred and thirty Lebanese Cedars in Ehden Nature Reserve and one thousand eight hundred and ninety in Al Shouf Nature Reserve, which in total adds up to three thousand eight hundred and twenty. This initiative was followed by distribution of certificates printed on recyclable paper to all the Lebanese physicians concerned signed by the president of each reserve.

This effort spans from our will to reverse our ancestors mistakes in nearly eradicating this natural heritage, and raise our current citizens’ feel of ownership and awareness, thus the responsibility to preserve it. Historically, our Cedars were extremely popular amongst the ancient settlers of this area of the world as abundantly mentioned in the Bible. Its popularity was linked to its outstanding qualities in various fields of human expertise. The Egyptians and the Assyrians imported the wood to build ships, altars, thrones, and carved objects and their royal houses. King Solomon, Hiram, Cyrus, and the kings of Assyria, not to mention any other neighboring kings, were quite fond of the wood and abused it in building their palaces. The end result was the Lebanese Cedar forests reached near extinction long before the time of Christ and thus not many exist today.

With all the history and culture we hold and with all the responsibility we need to sustain, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation for your cordial support and patronage, which surely made our effort a National Historic Success.
